EN-RG Assessors along with Alan Pither Ltd can provide you with an opportunity to qualify as a Domestic and Non Domestic (Commercial) Energy assessor.

Energy Assessor Training by Mike Wilcox, Dip. DEA, Dip. NDEA, B.EdCourses are run periodically when interest is shown by a number of people wishing to gain one of these qualifications.

For Local Authorities and Housing Associations who wish to train their own staff to become Energy Assessors, we are able to provide training 'in house'. We offer three day courses culminating in an online examination at a venue provided by your organisation.

Part of the course includes the completion of a portfolio of work, which includes some practice EPCs, in a postal correspondence format. When the work is completed to the required standard, and the portfolio submitted, we are also able award the appropriate qualification through the City and Guilds Examination Board.

Visit the Alan Pither website for more informationSince 1998 Alan has been working as a self employed energy efficiency consultant and trainer, offering a wide range of services to local authorities, housing associations and other organisations. These services include feasibility studies and business plans for energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives, research, market analysis, design of marketing materials to promote energy efficiency, energy surveys and energy ratings, housing stock energy consultancy, environmental assessment (BREEAM and EcoHomes), and training courses in all aspects of energy efficiency and environmental assessment.

Alan has over 20 years' experience of working in the energy efficiency and sustainable energy fields. He also has extensive experience of environmental assessment, having been a BREEAM assessor since 1990.

Alan is a National Home Energy Rating (NHER) Plan and Site Assessor and a qualified trainer for the NHER scheme. He also assists BRE with their training courses for BREEAM and EcoHomes assessors and has developed a number of customised training courses for local authorities and housing associations, including courses on giving energy advice, energy services and renewable energy/low carbon technologies.

Alan has a strong technical background, covering alternative energy sources (including renewables) as well as energy conservation measures. For his M.Sc. dissertation he studied the potential for the use of solar photovoltaic panels in areas without access to mains electricity. He has a thorough knowledge of energy auditing procedures, including the Standard Assessment Procedure, modelling of improvement options and the methods used to assess fuel poverty/affordable warmth.

Alan is a licensed assessor for BREEAM Offices, BREEAM Schools, EcoHomes and the Code for Sustainable Homes, registered with the Environmental Assessment Consortium. He regularly provides advice to developers and contractors on the assessment process and achieving particular BREEAM/EcoHomes targets. Projects have included design and procurement assessments of office and housing developments to an Excellent standard. Alan is also registered with BRE to deliver bespoke BREEAM assessments and works closely with design teams to interpret the bespoke credits and assessment criteria.
